HOW WE SERVE

HOW IS GOD CALLING US TO WORK WITH HIM

Ministries at FUMC include those inside the church walls like prayer, music, congregational nurturing, and welcoming those God brings our way. But we are also called to reach out to the world God loves through various missions in Winnfield and throughout the world, and in loving and strengthening families and children.

PRAYER GROUPS

Men’s Prayer Breakfast – 7:00 am Wednesday
The Wednesday morning prayer breakfast begins at 7:00am in the fellowship hall with a delicious breakfast followed by a time of prayer in the sanctuary. Even though they are very open to anyone attending, it is usually men in the church who like to gather for this special time. You are invited to attend!

Tuesday Prayers – 4:00 pm Tuesday
The Tuesday prayer begins at 4:00pm in the church parlor with a small group of women. All are invited.

PRAYER MINISTRY & CONGREGATIONAL NUTURING

Prayer is communion with God. Prayer is the greatest and best thing for God we can ever do. Here at First Methodist Winnfield, God invites us all to help bring in his kingdom for all eternity through our prayers.

At the end of each worship service during the last hymn you are invited to come to the altar rail to pray. You can also call in your prayer request to the church office 318-628-4181.

Our women and men generate a common life of welcome and celebration to our church home through meals, receptions, and special events. If you would be interested in joining our love for one another through fellowship and hospitality, please join us. Contact Ellen Russell or other team leaders listed below through the church office. We have several teams in place to serve our congregation. They are as follows:

MISSIONS

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BASKET PROJECT

In 1994, the Dr. Wren Sunday school class decided to prepare food baskets at Christmas for deserving families in Winnfield. That first year baskets were delivered to fifty families. That number has grown through the years as we try to meet the needs of all that are needing help with food for the Christmas season. The mission project is funded by monetary donations as well as non-perishable food items collected by Sunday school classes and by local schools.

HELPING HANDS

On the first and third Thursday of each month, volunteers assist local Winn Parish residents with utility bills from 10 AM – 12 PM. This project is funded by the offering left at the chancel rail during Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month.
